Description:
The course is designed for network administrators, designers and IT engineers/auditors willing to obtain working knowledge of the PIX/Firewalls.

  • Basic IP operation and security concepts.

  • PIX® Firewall features, models, components, and benefits.
  • PIX® Firewall configuration
  • Configuration of the IP addresses.
  • Configuration of the inbound and outbound traffic.
  • Configuration of the ACL.
  • Configuration of the Syslog server.
  • Configuration of the routing, filtering, DHCP clients, protocol handling, and AAA.
  • Configuration of the IDS feature set, site-to-site VPN.
  • Configuration VPN Client-to-PIX® Firewall VPN.
  • Password management on the PIX® Firewall.
  • Upgrade management on PIX® Firewall upgrade.
  • Configuration of the SNMP Network Management Station.
  • Configuration of a secure connection to the PIX® Firewall using SSH.


    • Prerequisites:
  • CCNA® certification or the equivalent working knowledge.
  • Basic network security and a TCP/IP.
  • Encryption technologies: DES, 3DES, RSA, hashing algorithms (MD5/SHA), and IPSec.
  • Windows OS.


    • Audience:
    System Engineers, network administrators, designers, and auditors. Duration: 3 days.
